Road Rash
It's been a tough week to be a bike belonging to Beverly. First, she drove you into an overhang while you were riding in the roof rack last Saturday in Monterey. Thus destroying your saddle and breaking your rear bottle cages. Sunday, she took you on a hilly 45 mile trek through Carmel Valley with a worn out rear cassette, mangling your chain. That new bike saddle she used on Sunday simply wasn't a good fit, either. Good thing she dumped you to ride the tandem for the final 30 miles. (that's 75 miles on new saddles, yowsa!) Thursday, she took you on "Dave's Thursday Night RideTM" with SVTC, finishing off your chain and further wearing your front chain rings. Friday, she replaced your cassette and chain with brand-spankin' new ones -- only to jam the chain in the cassette during today's 50 mile marker set-- snapping the new chain. Luckily, a passing Good Samaritan saved you from the ignominious sag wagon by removing the broken link and mending the chain. Oh the indignities!
Good thing you got her back by crashing when she broke the chain. The road rash, bruises and pulled ligaments really showed her. She'll be sore for days! She'll have a tough time in tomorrow's race too boot.
Well done.
